Play Therapy
Therapeutic play is a type of counseling that uses play and activities as the main way to help children express themselves and work through challenges. During play therapy sessions, your child gets to engage in playful activities like games, arts and crafts, puppets, sandplay, and working with animals. This allows them to "play out" their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a natural, comfortable way much like an adult would do in "talk" therapy. There are various approaches to play therapy including Child Centered Play Therapy, Adlerian Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Play Therapy etc.
Play is a child's language and the toys are their words. Through play, children can share things that may be too difficult to express directly and that might otherwise remain hidden. I observe how your child plays, identify themes or issues, and then sometimes uses activities and conversations to help your child process emotions, learn coping strategies, and practice new skills
Therapeutic play provides a safe psychological space for your child to freely be themselves. It helps build confidence, teaches problem-solving, and allows them to work through things at their own pace. The playroom feels like a familiar, non-threatening environment for children.
My role is to meet your child at their level, build trust, and gently guide the play experience in a therapeutic direction based on your child's specific needs. Therapeutic play can help with things like anxiety, behavioral issues, social skills, anger management, grief/loss, trauma and more. Clients of all ages can benefit from therapeutic play.
I have additional training and supervision in play therapy and is currently pursuing full registration with the Association for Play Therapy. To learn more about play therapy please visit:
