When your child is struggling at home or school, it’s hard to know what to do next.
I help children and teens feel calmer, more confident, and more successful—through play-based, animal-assisted therapy in a peaceful rural setting. You don’t have to guess what therapy will look like—each step is guided and explained along the way.
Hi, I’m Judy—a Registered Psychologist.
Animals are an important part of the work here—but sessions are more than just spending time with them.
Each session is thoughtfully structured and guided by a clear therapeutic approach, using play, connection, and (when appropriate) animal-assisted activities to help children build skills, work through challenges, and create meaningful change.
Worried about the drive?
Many families find the setting well worth it. Kids often look forward to coming—sessions feel more like play than work. With animals, creativity, and a calm rural setting, I help children feel safe, supported, and understood.
Whether your child is struggling with:
-
Anxiety, OCD, or low mood
-
Trouble focusing or sitting still
-
Big emotions or behaviour challenges
-
Grief, trauma, or stress
-
Social or friendship difficulties
-
I also support children who simply need more tools to navigate everyday challenges.
Together, we build skills so daily life feels more manageable at home and school
How Animals Are Incorporated in Therapy
Animals can be a powerful part of helping children feel safe and comfortable—but meaningful change comes from how they are included in the process.
At Stable Solutions, animal-assisted therapy is not just time spent with animals.
It is thoughtfully integrated into each session using a structured, evidence-based approach.
This means:
-
activities are guided by your child’s goals
-
interactions are intentional (not just passive)
-
progress is monitored over time
Animals help open the door—but the therapy is what creates change. Not all animal-assisted approaches are the same.
The effectiveness depends on how the work is guided and supported by a trained therapist.
You’ll also receive regular feedback so you understand:
-
what your child is working on
-
how they’re progressing
-
how to support them at home
I also offer assessments (e.g., learning, ADHD, cognitive) when questions about a child’s learning or attention arise. These help me understand your child’s unique needs and guide personalized therapy.
If this feels like a good fit, you’re welcome to reach out with any questions or to get started.
About Me

With over 30 years of experience working with children—as a teacher, learning support specialist, and now a Registered Psychologist—I’ve spent my career helping kids and families thrive.
I understand that children and teens need counselling that fits them—their age, personality, and interests. That’s why sessions might include play, time with animals (horses, dogs, and cats), and evidence-based approaches like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, or Play Therapy, depending on what’s most helpful.
I believe that play is how kids express themselves and work through challenges. Whether we’re building something together, talking while grooming a horse, or just sharing quiet time with a dog, therapy becomes a space where kids feel safe, understood, and supported.
If you are looking for an assessment for your child, all assessments are tailored to address the specific questions and concerns that brought you here, so we focus on what matters most for your child’s needs and your family’s goals.
